Delhi, also known as the National Capital Territory of Delhi (NCT), is a very important region in the country. Situated in the north, along the Yamuna River, Delhi functions as the political and administrative center of India. It is home to a rich history, diverse culture, popular landmarks, and is also very much into rapid urban development.
Historical Importance of Delhi
Delhi has a grand past that stretches over many centuries. The city was home to many powerful dynasties and empires, which included the Delhi Sultanate and the Mughal Empire. In the city, you will see a mix of architectural styles, which is a result of the many rulers who have at one point or the other controlled it. The Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Humayun’s Tomb, and India Gate are what many of the tourists from within the country and the world over come to see.
New Delhi is a part of the National Capital Territory, which during British rule saw its development and in 1911 became the capital of British India. Post-independence in 1947, it went on to be the capital of the country.

Delhi is a very large melting pot of different cultures, languages, traditions, and communities, as people from all over India live and work in the city at present. And the city is also well recognized for its extensive range of cuisine that is in which what you will find is very famous is chaat, chole bhature, kebabs, and parathas.
Delhi has a mix of historic neighborhoods, modern shopping centers, educational institutions, entertainment venues, and business districts. Also, we see that the city’s metro network is extensive, which in turn makes travel between many areas of the city easy.

Delhi is a major player in the fields of Indian politics, education, business, tourism and culture. What sets it apart from many other parts of the country is its mix of past and present.
