Lately, a blind item from The Opinionated Indian kinda kicked up a new wave of chatter about an A-list actress, who is supposedly finding it hard to handle the fallout from her latest action film. Even with pretty aggressive promotions and those mixed expectations at the box office, the movie didn’t land the way anyone hoped and the constant online trolling, it seems, has really left her in a gloomy, unsettled mood.
Blind Item
We have written several blind items about this A-lister. She left no stone unturned to ensure that her action movie succeeds at the box office. While the movie has fared better than what many feared, it is a box office flop. As per a source, the actress is dejected by the film’s failure. She has been getting trolled mercilessly online. The last few months have been terrible. People could see that her team paid off several reviewers & social media influencers to praise the movie. She took the bold step of appearing on a controversial talent show, but people could make out that she was nervous & getting out of her comfort zone. Her manager had put several conditions for her appearance on the show. They accepted those conditions as it as her presence was mutually benficial. Her well wishers are advising her to not take up any more action roles as she has delivered two back to back box office turkeys. What bothers her is that her rivals has been able to deliver blockbusters in the action genre & has the audience acceptance.
The bigger concern now is well, what comes next. She has already proved herself with a few successful films and strong portrayals, but this recent phase has clearly not gone according to plan. With doubts being raised over her selection of projects, and the chatter around her upcoming movies not sounding all that encouraging, this might end up being one of the tougher stretches of her career so far.
Still, writing her off completely would feel premature. She has bounced back from criticism before too, and she remains one of the most visible actresses of her generation. Maybe the better move right now is to ease away from chasing genres that sort of do not suit her strengths, reduce excessive PR, and just concentrate on solid scripts and convincing work. The trolling, sure, may be unfair, but a genuinely strong film could shift the conversation faster, than any big publicity push.
