War 2 is a 2025 Hindi-language action thriller movie that stars Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani in leading roles. It was directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Aditya Chopra. War 2 is the sequel to the 2019 action film War.
It is the sixth installment of the YRF Spy Universe series, which continues the story of Major Kabir Dhaliwal. With international locations, large-scale action sequences, and a reported production cost of about ₹400 crore, War 2 was one of the biggest Indian action movies of 2025.

Ayan Mukerji directed War 2. Aditya Chopra produced the movie as well as came up with its original story. Shridhar Raghavan penned its screenplay, whereas dialogues were written by Abbas Tyrewala.

Major Kabir Dhaliwal has become a mercenary after going rogue. But the truth is that Major Kabir Dhaliwal remains loyal to RAW, and he infiltrated the dangerous Kali Cartel, which wants to take over India.
RAW considers Kabir a traitor. Daughter of Colonel Sunil Luthra, Kavya Luthra, who also shared a past with Kabir, gets associated with the mission of stopping him. On the other hand, another major, Vikram Chelapathi, joins the mission. Eventually, a connection between Vikram’s and Kabir’s past is revealed.
The story turns out to be an interesting fight between friendship, betrayal, patriotism, and revenge as Kabir tries to expose the bigger plan of the Kali Cartel.

Hrithik Roshan portrays the role of Major Kabir Dhaliwal, whereas Jr NTR essays the role of Major Vikram Chelapathi, who has a connection with Kabir’s childhood self as Raghu.
Kiara Advani portrays Wing Commander Kavya Luthra, daughter of Colonel Sunil Luthra. Ashutosh Rana reprised his role as Colonel Sunil Luthra, whereas Anil Kapoor played the role of Vikrant Kaul, Chief of RAW.
Dishita Sehgal played the role of Ruhi, whereas Varun Badola portrayed Vilasrao Sarang and Soni Razdan essayed the character of Nafisa Rahmani. Tiger Shroff appeared in a flashback as Captain Khalid Rahmani, whereas Bobby Deol made a cameo appearance.
Hrithik Roshan as Kabir
Major Kabir Dhaliwal makes a comeback in the film after appearing as an expert intelligence agent in the previous war.
He gets into a more complex situation because his own organization has doubts about him being a traitor, whereas he is trying to infiltrate the Kali Cartel.
Thanks to the hero’s knowledge, combat skills, and impressive action scenes, Kabir remains the protagonist of the film.
Jr NTR as Vikram
One of the most prominent features of the new war is Jr NTR as Major Vikram Chelapathi. He made his debut in Hindi movies in this picture.
The hero gets connected to Kabir’s childhood in some way that makes their rivalry more emotional than that of a villain and a hero.

Kiara Advani as Kavya
Kiara Advani is Wing Commander Kavya Luthra in the movie. She is Colonel Luthra’s daughter and former lover of Kabir.
Kavya gets personally involved in the main operation and actively participates in the intrigue connected with Kabir.
The character brings an element of both romance and action into the plot.
Songs of War 2
Pritam composed the songs of War 2. Meanwhile, Amitabh Bhattacharya was responsible for writing the lyrics. Sanchit Balhara and Ankit Balhara were the creators of the background score.
Two important songs from the film are “Aavan Jaavan” and “Janaab-e-Aali.”
“Aavan Jaavan” is performed by Arijit Singh and Nikhita Gandhi and gives the film a romantic touch.
“Janaab-e-Aali” is a song by Sachet Tandon and Saaj Bhatt featuring the awaited dance duet of Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR.
Production and Filming
Filming of War 2 started in October 2023, with production carried out in various locations in India and around the globe.
Most of the filming took place in Mumbai, Spain, Abu Dhabi, and Italy. In Italy, filming was done in cities such as Venice, Lake Como, Naples, and the Amalfi Coast.
The film features car chases, boat sequences, action in the air, and big fights. Moreover, a dance scene featuring Hrithik and Jr NTR was filmed with the participation of hundreds of dancers.
YRF Spy Universe Relation
War 2 is the sixth movie that makes up the YRF Spy Universe after Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, and Tiger 3.
Kabir continues to remain one of the leading characters in this spy universe, while War 2 brings to the audience a new character, Vikram. Besides, the film elaborates on the plot regarding the organization and conflicts connected with RAW.

My Personal Favorite
In my personal opinion, the best part of War 2 is the clash between Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. It is not simply two strangers battling with each other, as Kabir and Vikram know each other from the past.
Moreover, I like how the film continues Kabir’s story, linking it with a bigger spy universe. The presence of two top action stars provides some great moments in the movie.
Conclusion
War 2 is an elaborate action thriller that features espionage, friendship, betrayal, and patriotism. Hrithik Roshan reprises his role of Kabir, along with Jr NTR as Vikram and Kiara Advani as Kavya under the direction of Ayan Mukerji for the sequel.
War 2 was released on 14 August 2025 to increase the YRF Spy Universe by introducing new characters, international locations, and links to other films such as Alpha.
