Goodbye was a surprisingly has a poor start as only 1 crore* came on its opening day. It was predicted that an opening of 2-3 crores is expected now after seeing the 1st day. A film leaded by Amitabh Bachchan and Rashmika Mandanna making her debut in Bollywood alongwith director Vikas Behl who just gave the superhit film Super 30 definitely deserve more than this.
The buzz around this film was about average but now the expectations were brought down to half.
As the start was even lesser than the lowest of the year when it comes to mid-budget films, it was really disheartening to see.
This film had an OTT feel to it because of its stage, setting and canvas. However, due to its starcast it expected to have a better start. Also, people have started going to the theatres again, as seen for Brahmastra, and even for Vikram Vedha did somewhat a good work in pockets. Hence, to see Goodbye having such a poor start is unimaginable.
If Goodbye would have gotten universally out and had positive feedback then one would have expected the collections to double up. Though no one has called this film poor, but it’s also not earning overnight either.
We now just wait to see where Goodbye goes because anything less than 2 crores would end up making this film a one-week show.
