Chiranjeevi‘s new model of business became successful. If properly understood, this becomes a role model for other famous heroes to follow.
After observing the negative effects of ‘Acharya’s’ failure, Chiranjeevi made certain judgments and made sure that they were implemented out.
The first is that he refused to let distributors to sell the film (excepting Naizam and Overseas).
The film’s budget was Rs 70 Cr, though it was originally expected to complete at Rs 40 Cr. By roping in Salman Khan into the film, the non-theatrical rights were sold for Rs 80 crore . As a result, the movie landed into profit with the non theatrical rights itself.
After that they expected the movie to make a share of Rs 60 Cr – Rs 70 Cr at the theatres, but it only earned around Rs 40 Cr. That way, the entire share was approximately Rs 50 Cr. This was divided in half for Chiranjeevi and the rest of the producers.
As a result, Chiranjeevi got Rs 25 crore as his part, although anticipating more than Rs 50 crore if the film performed well.
The two producers got a total of Rs 25 Cr. However, as they sold the movie to Naizam and Overseas, they had to pay back to the distributors for losses in the amount of around Rs 8 Cr. After subtracting that amount, both producers might collect around Rs 8 to Rs 9 crore. That is a win-win situation for every individuals involved in the business.
Apart from gaining a handsome of money, Chiranjeevi’s image was not affected in negative way. I hope the other great heroes learn this and follow.
