I have always had a dry scalp & dandruff related issues right from my childhood. I have inherited these issues from my mother. While I used to regularly get my hair oiled & have an oil bath every weekend during school, coaching classes & other commitments during my college days made me stop that good practice.
By the time I graduated I had a full blown dandruff crisis. I was suffering from dandruff all the time, which led to an itchy scalp. Whenever I wore black, friends were quick to spot the dandruff! I was always itching my scalp. I even had skin problems on my arms. I tried to avoid wearing black. I also suffered from some hair loss. I was annoyed with my scalp always feeling itchy. Only when I met a dermatologist was I made aware that those tiny boils on the back of my arm was due to dandruff falling & settling on my arm!
That’s when I got back to the basics. I started oiling my hair twice a week, including once on a weekday. I started oiling my hair & letting my scalp soak all the oil overnight. In the morning I had an oil bath with Lotus Botanicals Ginger Root Dandruff Control Shampoo (INR 495) & then use a Lotus Botanicals Red Onion Nutritive Hair Conditioner (INR 345) to give my hair the necessary nutrients. The tiny boils on my arm are now gone & my scalp is not itchy anymore. It feels great to not feel like itching my scalp all the time. My hair now looks strong & my hair fall problems are gone completely.
I would strongly recommend to those with acute dandruff problems to have an oil bath every alternate day till the problem subsides or vanishes completely. Getting a short haircut also helps to an extent.
If the problem still doesn’t go away, we would strongly recommend consulting a dermatologist.
