Dhirubhai Ambani was an Indian business entrepreneur and creator of Reliance Industries, one of the largest corporations in India. He was born on December 28, 1932, in Chorwad, a tiny hamlet in Gujarat, India. Despite his remarkable life narrative of rising from poverty to wealth, Ambani is recognised as a visionary businessman who transformed the Indian corporate environment.

Dhirajlal Hirachand Ambani was born on December 28, 1932, in the tiny Gujarati hamlet of Chorwad, in the Junagadh district. His parents were Hirachand Gordhanbhai Ambani, a humble village school teacher, and Jamnaben Ambani. Dhirubhai, a member of the Modh Baniya community, finished his schooling at the Bahadur Khanji school. He chose to go from Aden in 1958, which served as his springboard for starting his own business in India's thriving textile industry. There are also rumours circulating concerning his time spent working as a fuel station seller.

With just the bare needs and two employees, Reliance Commercial Corporation had its modest beginnings in a 350-square-foot room on Narsinatha Street in Masjid Bunder.
Dhirubhai and Damani, who shared a modest two-bedroom flat in the Bhuleshwar neighbourhood of Mumbai, split ways in 1965. In 1998, the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School awarded him the Dean's Medal in appreciation of his exceptional leadership. In 2016, he received the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian honour, posthumously, in recognition of his significant achievements in commerce and business.
