Global Super League Winners: Who Has Won the Trophy So Far?
Cricket West Indies launched the Global Super League in 2024, and the idea is simple. Take strong sides from T20 leagues around the world, bring them to Guyana, and see who comes out on top. Think of the old Champions League T20, but with the hosts, Guyana Amazon Warriors, always in the mix alongside four invited teams.

Only three finals have been played, but they’ve given us a big win, a home celebration and one of the strangest title defences you’ll see.
Champions by Season
| Season | Winner (Captain) | Runner-up (Captain) |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | Rangpur Riders (Nurul Hasan) | Victoria (Corey Anderson) |
| 2025 | Guyana Amazon Warriors (Imran Tahir) | Rangpur Riders (Nurul Hasan) |
| 2026 | Guyana Amazon Warriors (Imran Tahir) | San Francisco Unicorns (Hassan Khan) |
2024: Rangpur Riders Win the First One
Bangladesh’s Rangpur Riders met Australia’s Victoria in the opening final. Rangpur batted first and made it count. Soumya Sarkar scored 86, Steven Taylor chipped in 68, and the team finished on 178 for 3.
Victoria had no real answer. Joe Clarke made 40, but nobody else stuck around, and the whole side was gone for 122. Rangpur won by 56 runs and became the first name on the trophy.
2025: The Hosts Get Their Revenge
Rangpur reached the final again, only this time they were up against the home crowd. Guyana won the toss and batted. Johnson Charles hit 67 and Rahmanullah Gurbaz made 66. Then Romario Shepherd blasted an unbeaten 28 off nine balls at the end, and Guyana posted 196 for 4.
Rangpur’s chase started badly at 29 for 3. Saif Hassan scored 41 and Iftikhar Ahmed made 46, and for a while there was some hope. It faded, and Rangpur were bowled out for 164. Guyana had their first title.
2026: Winning With 85
Nobody expected this one. Guyana, the defending champions, were playing the San Francisco Unicorns and batted terribly. Their top eight scored 8, 2, 6, 4, 2, 2, 2 and 0. It looked like the end of the road.
But the last three batters turned it around. Dwaine Pretorious finished on 17 not out, Matthew Forde made 28, and captain Imran Tahir added 11. Together they scraped together 56 runs and got the total to 85. That isn’t much, but it was enough to defend.
The Unicorns found out how hard it is to chase even a small target. Pretorious, Tahir and Mohammad Nabi bowled superbly, and San Francisco folded for 79. Guyana won by six runs and kept the trophy.
What We’ve Learned So Far
Guyana have two titles from three seasons, and Imran Tahir has been the captain both times. Rangpur Riders have one win and one runner-up finish, which makes them the closest thing the hosts have to a rival. Whether anyone can beat Guyana in their own backyard is the question for 2027.
