Marathi television has thrown up plenty of overnight sensations over the years, but Sharayu Sonawane isn’t really one of them. Her name became a household fixture gradually, through a string of film and TV roles that built on each other rather than a single viral moment. In 2026, she remains one of the more consistent and well-liked names in the industry.

Early Life and Family

Sharayu was born on 25 June 1995 in Mumbai. Her father Rajendra Sonawane and mother Madhavi Sonawane raised her in a fairly traditional Maharashtrian household, alongside her sister Saya. By most accounts, the family wasn’t the type to push a child toward showbiz; education and good sense mattered more at home than getting noticed. She went to Shramik Vidyalaya for school and later joined Bhavan’s College in Mumbai, where she got involved in college fests, anchoring gigs and stage debates. Looking back, that’s probably where her comfort in front of an audience actually started, well before any camera was involved.

How Her Career Took Shape

She started out with the 2015 film Aatli Batli Phutli, a small step rather than a big splash. A few years later came Sur Sapata (2019), followed by Alipt in 2021, where she got to work with heavier, more layered material. Neither film made her a star overnight, but together they gave her the kind of grounding actors usually need before bigger roles come along.

Pinkicha Vijay Aso (2022) pushed her further into the spotlight, and soon after she surprised a few people by taking on a completely different kind of role — Jui, an Ichhadhari Naagin, in Zee Yuva’s Prem Poison Panga. It wasn’t the sort of part her earlier films suggested she’d take, which is partly why it worked.

Her biggest break, though, is one most viewers already know: Paaru on Zee Marathi. Playing Parvati Maruti Semse, or simply “Paaru,” she took the character from a naive young woman to someone far tougher and more self-assured, and that arc is what audiences still remember her for.

Marriage and Personal Life

Sharayu keeps her personal life mostly out of the public eye. She married filmmaker and producer Jayant Lade on 4 May 2023. There wasn’t a big media circus around it, and the two haven’t made a habit of sharing details publicly since — which seems to match how she generally handles attention off-screen.

Ask people in the industry what stands out about Sharayu, and restraint usually comes up. She doesn’t overplay emotional scenes, which is harder than it sounds in a genre that often rewards exaggeration. No major individual awards yet, but that’s arguably just a matter of time — the viewership numbers and audience goodwill are already there.
