Mutual funds today are a part of the everyday life of Indian investors via digital platforms and financial intermediaries. For mutual fund distributors, the right distribution channel simplifies client onboarding, transaction processing, SIP management and portfolio-related services. By 2026, distributors will have a choice among many platforms and infrastructure providers based on their business model and requirements.
It is to be noted that the platforms we have are for different purposes. Some are for the use of distributors, while others are for transaction or investor service infrastructure. What you choose from the options depends on whether you are an investor, an individual mutual fund distributor or a large-scale distribution business.

NSE Equity Invest (NME II).
NSE MF Invest is a National Stock Exchange platform for mutual fund distributors. It provides for digital and physical client onboarding, online order placement, bulk uploads, payment options and demat or non-demat allotment. The platform was designed to improve distribution processes and reduce paperwork.

BSE StAR MF is a large-scale platform for mutual fund transactions. AMFI reports that investors may purchase and redeem mutual fund units through BSE StAR MF and also that eligible AMFI registered distributors use the platform to transact on behalf of clients.
MFC of which Central.
MFCentral is a joint project between CAMS and KFintech which has created a unified mutual fund services platform. It allows investors to use a single platform for access and management of mutual fund folios across associated fund houses. We see services which include portfolio viewing, transaction processing and digital-based service requests.
Municipal Facilities (MF).
MF Utilities, which we have put together as a shared service for mutual fund transactions between different fund houses. We made it available for our investors and intermediaries to use for a wide range of financial and non-financial mutual fund transactions. It is very much for the users that prefer a single point of transaction, which in turn will be with us instead of going to each separate fund house.
GAMET.
In the Indian mutual fund industry, Computer Age Management Services (CAMS) is a large-scale player as a registrar and transfer agent. We have that they are into digital infrastructure, which includes a few investor services such as account statements and transactions of the mutual funds which CAMS has in its portfolio. Also, they are in the business of providing services through KFintech, which is the platform for the launch of MFCentral, bringing together services across mutual fund folios.
TechFin.
KFin Technologies is a major player also as a transfer agent in the Indian mutual fund market. It provides infrastructure for transactions and investor services for the mutual funds which it serves. KFintech’s work with CAMS has also brought forth MFCentral, which puts in place a single digital platform for investors.
Digital Mutual Fund Platforms.
In regard to exchange and industry infrastructure, distributors also use special digital distribution platforms which include features like client onboarding, SIP management, portfolio tracking, transaction processing and reporting. What is put forward by each provider varies in terms of features, price and fund house coverage, so it is up to the distributor to choose which best suits their needs.
Which Mutual Fund Platform to Choose.
Before choosing a platform, distributors should look at the issue of which AMCs are supported, transaction facilities, SIP capabilities, client onboarding, reporting tools, technology integration, customer support and also what the applicable charges are.
Regulatory compliance is key. AMFI reports that mutual fund distributors should get the appropriate NISM certification and register with AMFI to get an AMFI Registration Number (ARN) before they begin mutual fund distribution.
AMFI runs a distributor directory which investors use to check distributor details and ARN info.
Conclusion
In 2026, India’s mutual fund distribution space is home to many tech-based options. NSE MF Invest, BSE StAR MF, MFCentral, MF Utilities, CAMS and KFintech play different roles in the ecosystem, which also includes specialised digital distribution platforms that may present additional tools for distributors. Instead of jumping to popular choices, distributors should evaluate each platform’s features, AMC coverage, operational requirements, costs and regulatory framework against the distributor’s own business requirements.
