Jisshu Sengupta is that guy who’s been killing it in Bengali cinema since the 90s! Born on March 15, 1977, in Kolkata, this 6′ tall hunk’s got a career spanning acting, producing, and hosting. He started his journey with the TV series Mahaprabhu (1996), where he rocked the role of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, earning him major recognition.
The Early Days:
He made his film debut with Priyojon (1999), but it was Moner Majhe Tumi (2003) that got him noticed. He went on to appear in hits like Love (2008), Bor Asbe Ekhuni (2008), and The Last Lear (2008), earning critical acclaim for his performances.
The Breakthrough:
Under Rituparno Ghosh’s guidance, Jisshu delivered some of his best performances in Shob Choritro Kalponik (2008), Chitrangada, and Abohoman. He even made a cameo in Anurag Basu’s Barfi! (2012) and rocked the role of Byomkesh Bakshi in Anjan Dutt’s Byomkesh Bakshi (2015).
