Early Life and Background
Arunima Sinha was born in Uttar Pradesh, India. Al,sonational-levelvel volleyball player by trade, she was very much into sports. Up until that time,e her life was a success story, when in 2011 she had a life-turning incident. One day, while on a train, she put up a fight against a would-be robber, who, in turn, threw her off the moving train. In that tragic incident, which followed,d she lost a leg to another traithatch had run over her.
The Turning Point
Instead of giving in, Arunima chose to put up a fight against fate. In the hospital, al as she recovered, she made a bold decision to climb Mount Everest. Many people put out that she won’t mak,e it but was set out to prove that physical limitations do not break a strong will. She trained under Bachendri Pal, the first Indian woman to climb Mount Everest. The training was intense and challenging, very much so for someone with a prosthetic leg, but Arunima did not waver.

After many months of preparation and hard work, Arunima Sinha did in fact climb Mount Everestonn May 21, 2013. With that achievement, which also happened to be a first of its kind in the world, she became the first female amputee to reach the summit of that which is the highest mountain. That was not just a personal triumph but a source of pride for the entire nation. Also,o to prove her strength and determination, she went on to climb the highest peaks of other continents.
