Saturday is proving to be another great box office day, despite the fact that Drishyam 2, starring Ajay Devgn, is only 3 weeks old. The Abhishek Pathak-directed film is seeing a rise of 80 to 90 percent on its third Saturday, with trends indicating collections of Rs 7.75 to 8.50 crore. The biz may be higher because the night shows, which have been the most profitable for Drishyam 2 since its release, are yet to begin.
Drishyam is a box office hit
The Ajay Devgn-starrer is now a blockbuster and will soon reach the 200-crore club at the Indian box office. This thriller’s 16-day total is around Rs 172.25 crore, and it will surpass the Rs 180 crore mark by the end of the third weekend. By Tuesday, it will cross the receipts of Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 third highest-grossing picture of the year. Interestingly, these two, together with The Kashmir Files, are the only 2022 blockbusters.
Bhediya and An Action Hero update
Bhediya, featuring Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon, was the second-best pick at the box office this weekend, with second Saturday collections ranging from Rs 2.75 to 3.15 crore. This creature comedy had a 9-day total of approximately Rs 44.40 crore. The sum is low, and the picture will have a lifetime of around Rs 60 crore. Looking at the positives, the picture had a 65 to 70% increase on its second Saturday, and it isn’t going flat like most other releases this year. However, the final outcome will be low and far below expectations.
An Action Hero saw a slight increase in business on Saturday, while final collections remained low. According to initial trends, the film would earn between Rs 1.60 and Rs 2.00 crore on its first day, bringing the two-day total to somewhere around Rs 4.00 crore. Again, the positive is that Saturday growth for multiplex movies is returning, but the base is far too low for the surge to be appreciated or acknowledged.
Final Box Office Numbers for Uunchai
Uunchai, directed by Sooraj Barjatya, is steady and continues to put up low-level numbers. After earning Rs 17 lakh on Friday, the film is headed to earn approximately Rs 30 lakh on Saturday, its fourth Saturday. Uunchai’s 23-day total is in the range of Rs 28.45 crore, and the film is expected to complete its sweet little run at Rs 30 crore nett.
On Saturday, the four films generated a total of Rs 13.30 crore, which is a good indication for the Hindi box office.
