
The term CSK refers to the Chennai Super Kings, a professional cricket team based in Chennai, India. They are one of the eight teams that compete in the Indian Premier League (IPL), a popular domestic Twenty20 cricket league in India. CSK could muster only 109 runs in the first season of IPL against Rajasthan Royals. Tanvir’s spell of 6/14, which is also to this date best figures by any one for IPL till then proved costly to CSK that was having the momentum broken. Rajasthan won easily in an eight-wicket comfort thrashing .

CSK again suffered debacle against Mumbai Indians, and this time they got bowled for 109 chasing a modest target of 156. Lasith Malinga’s 4-wicket haul played a big part in their 46-run loss

CSK had a fight against Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), being bowled over for a paltry 110/8. A disciplined bowling effort led by Morne Morkel ensured Delhi chased the target comfortably with 40 balls to spare
5.112/8 vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (2008)
Another low-scoring match from the inaugural season, CSK lost at 112/8 while chasing 127. Anil Kumble’s spell of 3/14 sealed a 14-run win for RCB
