Saloni Verma, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, was born in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, but she grew up in Delhi. Her father is employed at the Supreme Court of India, while her mother is a homemaker. Saloni has a younger brother. She completed her schooling in Delhi at the Convent of Jesus and Mary School, pursuing the science stream from 1st to 12th grade. After finishing school, she enrolled at Hindu College, University of Delhi, to pursue a B.A. in English Honors.


In her 10th class, Saloni achieved an impressive score of 89%, and in the 12th class, she secured 95% marks in science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology). She completed her B.A. degree with a commendable 74% overall score.


Saloni took two attempts to clear the UPSC exam. In 2018, she made her first attempt but was not adequately prepared, which affected her chances. Recognizing her lack of preparation, she dedicated the following year to thorough study and successfully cleared the UPSC exam.


Saloni follows a disciplined timetable for UPSC exam preparation. She wakes up at 9 am and starts her studies by 10 am, typically studying for 8-10 hours each day. She sets daily goals and puts in determined efforts to achieve them, often studying until late at night, around 2 am.


To cope with insecurity and fear, Saloni relies on the support of her best friend and family members. They provide her with encouragement and inspiration when she faces such challenges.

Saloni chose International Relations and Political Science as her optional subject. She has a genuine interest in this field and had already studied political science during her last two semesters in college. She prepared for her optional subject by studying the notes of previous years' toppers and purchasing some additional notes from the market. She did not take any coaching specifically for her optional subject.


As of now, Saloni is undergoing training. Her training took place in LdSNA, Arunachal Pradesh. She is part of the Assam Meghalaya cadre and commenced her training on December 5, 2021.


In terms of salary, Saloni holds the position of level 10 in the pay matrix. Her basic pay is 56100, with additional allowances such as Dearness Allowance (DA) of 39537, Transport Allowance (TA) of 3600, and DA on TA of 612. Her gross salary amounts to 83313. Deductions include National Pension System (NPS) of 6564 and CGEGIS of 30, resulting in a total deduction of 6594. Therefore, her net in-hand salary is 76719, along with a government contribution of 9189.
