Shankar Mahadevan is a popular Indian Singer and music composer. He was born on 3rd March 1967 in Chembur Suburb of Mumbai. He became an adroit harmonium player by the age of 5 and also started playing Veena. He did his schooling from Our Lady of Perceptual High School of Chembur. After that in 1998, he completed his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology, Navi Mumbai. Shankar has learned Indian Classical music from Pandit Shrinivas Khale. TR Balamani also monitored him about Carnatic Classical Music. 

Career and Achievements 
Shankar Mahadevan got famous for his Non-film music Album Breathless which topped the Indian music charts in 1998. He has also provided vocals for some compositions of Remember Shakti which features Zakir Hussain, John, McLaughlin, U.Srinivas, and Selvaganesh Vinayakram. In 2009, he was also a Judge on the music reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. He has many prestigious Awards for his marvelous contribution to the field of Music Industry.

He got the National Film Award for Best Playback Singer and the Swaralaya -kairali-Yesudas Award for outstanding contribution to Indian Film Music. In 2011 he received the Lata Mangeshkar Award from the Government of Andhra Pradesh. In 2008, he received the Kerala State Film Award for Best Playback Singer. In 2009, he received the Annual Malayalam Movie Awards for Best Male Singer. In 2012 also he was the recipient of the National Film Award for Best Playback Singer.
