This Is What Shah Rukh Khan Adviced When Kajol Decided To Quit Acting!!
Kajol recently opened up about the advice Shah Rukh Khan gave her when she considered leaving acting early in her career. She is set to appear in the action-thriller Do Patti, alongside Kriti Sanon.
Reflecting on her early struggles in an interview with India Today, Kajol revealed that after her third film, she was on the verge of quitting acting. It was during this challenging time that Shah Rukh Khan offered her advice, which encouraged her to stay on her acting journey.
Kajol shared her experience of being a newcomer in the industry: “I did a film a long time ago called Udhaar Ki Zindagi, my third film. I must have been around 17 or 18 at the time. I remember Shah Rukh telling me, 'You just have to learn how to act.' At the time, I thought I was doing great. But after completing that film, I told my mom, ‘I’m done. I’m burnt out. At 18-and-a-half, I’m finished. I can’t cry anymore or use glycerine. I don’t want to make films like this anymore.’”
Kajol went on to explain that she then chose to sign films that required less emotional depth, including Gundaraj and Hulchul, which helped her eventually learn the craft of acting.
In terms of her career, Kajol debuted in Bollywood with Bekhudi in 1992 and went on to star in iconic films like Baazigar (1993), Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Gupt (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001).
Kajol will be reuniting with Kriti Sanon in Do Patti, after their previous collaboration in Rohit Shetty's Dilwale (2015). Co-produced by Kriti and screenwriter Kanika Kapoor, Do Patti is a romantic thriller that also stars Shaheer Sheikh and Tanvi Azmi. Directed by Shashanka Chaturvedi, the film is set to release on October 25, 2024.
