Yash Raj Films Announces Mardaani 3, Starring Rani Mukerji, for a 2026 Theatrical Release

Rani Mukerji’s beloved supercop, Shivani Shivaji Roy, is set to return to the big screen with the third installment of the Mardaani franchise. Yash Raj Films (YRF) officially announced Mardaani 3 on Friday, marking the anniversary of Mardaani 2’s release. The movie will begin production in 2025 and is slated for a 2026 release in theaters, though the exact date is yet to be revealed.

To commemorate the occasion, YRF shared the film’s official poster on their social media platforms, captioning it: “The wait is over! #RaniMukerji is back as the fierce Shivani Shivaji Roy in #Mardaani3. In cinemas 2026.” Produced by Aditya Chopra, the film will be directed by Abhiraj Minawala.

Expressing her excitement, Rani Mukerji said, “I’m thrilled to announce that we’ll begin shooting Mardaani 3 in April 2025. Donning the police uniform again and playing a character that has brought me so much love is always a privilege. This role is my tribute to the unsung, brave, and selfless cops who work relentlessly to keep us safe.”

Rani promised that Mardaani 3 would elevate the franchise to new heights. “We’ve aimed to craft a story that takes the Mardaani experience to the next level. The script for Mardaani 3 has been penned by Aayush Gupta, known for his work on The Railway Men. Abhiraj Minawala, who has been groomed under YRF and previously worked as an associate director on films like Band Baaja Baaraat, Sultan, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, and Tiger 3, will helm the project. Abhiraj is also currently working as an associate director on War 2.
