Fast & Furious 6 Movie Actor, Cast and Crew, Director

"Fast & Furious 6," known on-screen as "Furious 6" and in Japan as "Wild Speed: Euro Mission," is a 2013 action film directed by Justin Lin and written by Chris Morgan. It serves as the sequel to "Fast Five" (2011) and marks the sixth installment in the "Fast & Furious" franchise. The film features Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto and Paul Walker as Brian O'Conner, alongside a cast that includes Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Sung Kang, Luke Evans, Gina Carano, and John Ortiz. In the story, Toretto, O'Conner, and their team are offered pardons for their past crimes in exchange for assisting DSS agent Luke Hobbs (Johnson) in taking down a mercenary organization led by former British SAS major Owen Shaw (Evans), whose team includes Toretto's former lover Letty Ortiz (Rodriguez).

The idea for a sixth film was conceived as early as February 2010, prior to the production of "Fast Five." This plan was confirmed in April 2011 when Morgan began drafting the screenplay, and the return of Diesel, Lin, and producer Neal H. Moritz was announced in June. There were discussions about filming this installment alongside a potential seventh film, but those plans were shelved when principal photography began in July 2012. Filming continued until December 2012, with locations including Los Angeles, London, Glasgow, and the Canary Islands. Like its predecessor, "Fast & Furious 6" featured extensive practical stunt work, necessitating the design of specialized vehicles. Due to scheduling conflicts, Brian Tyler, who had composed the score for the previous three films, was replaced by Lucas Vidal. Notably, "Fast & Furious 6" was the last film in the franchise released during Paul Walker's lifetime, as he tragically passed away in a car accident on November 30, 2013.

"Fast & Furious 6" premiered at the Empire, Leicester Square on May 7, 2013, and was first released in the United Kingdom on May 17, followed by its U.S. release on May 24 by Universal Pictures. The film received generally positive reviews, with praise for Lin's direction, the performances of the cast, and the action sequences. It grossed $788.7 million, making it the sixth-highest-grossing film of 2013, the third-highest-grossing film distributed by Universal at the time, and the highest-grossing film in the franchise at that point. The film was followed by "Furious 7" in 2015.

Plot Summary

After their successful heist in Brazil, Dominic Toretto and his crew are living peaceful lives across the globe: Dom is with Elena Neves, Mia is with Brian O'Conner and their son Jack, Gisele Yashar and Han Lue are together, and Roman Pearce and Tej Parker are enjoying their wealth. Meanwhile, DSS agents Luke Hobbs and Riley Hicks investigate the destruction of a Russian military convoy by a group of mercenaries led by former British SAS agent Owen Shaw. Hobbs tracks down Dom and persuades him to help capture Shaw by showing him a photo of Dom's supposedly deceased wife, Letty Ortiz, who is working with Shaw.

Initially reluctant, Dom agrees after realizing the entire team is needed for the job. At their headquarters, Hobbs briefs the team that Shaw is stealing components to build a "Nightshade" device that can shut down all power, intending to sell it to the highest bidder. Dom and his team accept the mission in exchange for pardons.

In London, Shaw's hideout is discovered but is revealed to be a decoy while Shaw's team carries out a heist at an Interpol building. Shaw escapes in a custom-built car, blowing up his hideout and disabling most of the police, leaving Dom, Brian, Tej, Roman, Han, Gisele, Hobbs, and Riley to chase after him. Letty helps Shaw and shoots Dom before escaping. Shaw later reveals to Letty her past relationship with Dom, but she is suffering from amnesia.

Dom's team learns that Shaw is connected to Arturo Braga, a drug lord that Dom and Brian previously imprisoned. Brian returns to Los Angeles as a prisoner to question Braga, who reveals that Shaw helped him build his drug cartel and that Letty survived an explosion but was found by Shaw, who exploited her amnesia.

After being released, Brian reunites with the team in London. Dom races Letty in a street competition and later returns her cross necklace, but she chooses to stay with Shaw. Shaw then offers Dom a chance to walk away, threatening to harm his family, but Dom refuses. Tej tracks Shaw's next target, a NATO base in Spain.

Shaw's team attacks a military convoy on a highway to steal a computer chip to complete the "Nightshade" device. Dom's team intervenes as Shaw, accompanied by Letty, commandeers a tank. Brian and Roman manage to flip the tank, and Letty is thrown from the vehicle, but Dom saves her. Shaw and his team are captured, but reveal that Mia has been kidnapped by Shaw's accomplices, Vegh and Klaus. Hobbs is forced to release Shaw, and Riley, who is revealed to be Shaw's mole, leaves with him; Letty chooses to stay with Dom.

Shaw's group boards a moving Antonov An-124 cargo plane as Dom's team gives chase. Dom, Letty, and Brian board the plane; Brian rescues Mia and escapes. The plane attempts to take off but is held down by the combined weight of the team's vehicles. Gisele sacrifices herself to save Han from Shaw's henchman Adolfson. Letty kills Riley and escapes with Hobbs, but Dom pursues Shaw and the computer chip. As the plane crashes, Shaw is thrown from it and severely injured, while Dom drives a Charger out of the exploding plane. Dom reunites with his team and hands the chip over to Hobbs to secure their pardons. Dom and the others return to their old family home in Los Angeles. Hobbs and Elena, now working together, arrive to confirm the crew's freedom; Elena accepts that Dom loves Letty as the group prepares to say grace.
