This movie is mainly about the trials and tribulations of people who struggle with sleep deprivation due to scientific research. This concept is strange and wrong. We watch these insomniacs battle sleep, wondering why they should be afraid, when they’ve become used to not sleeping.
Additionally, they are constantly fighting off sleep in the middle of activities, as opposed to when they have nothing going on. There are layers to this program, seeing the participants become injected with something and being given money as they attempt to stay awake. After 33 minutes, there was yet to be anyone who has succumbed to sleep, though one character almost did and began to hear voices and act out in a basketball game.

Following a strange pool gathering, a band is seen playing – giving off a very young, American High School atmosphere. A light-hearted kiss takes place, which is the most thrilling thing to occur in nearly an hour. One of the characters FALLS UNCONSCIOUS and it looks like she is about to pass away, yet her comrades revive her through mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and she comes back alive, though it doesn’t make any sense. In the end, the four of them decide to abandon the program, despite the offer of increased payment.
After a good night’s rest, the insomniacs are so sound asleep that their alarms can’t wake them. Jane’s younger sister is participating in a dubious program in order to finance their grandmother’s medical expenses, and Jane decides to join her. Jane implores her friends to join the program with her, and they comply. In a predictable twist, the benevolent professor at the start of the story is actually responsible for the program the five students are now trapped in. The professor promises to stop the program and remove their implants once they complete the program, yet they are still scared they will die, even though they were aware of that possibility when they chose to leave the program.
They flee. We uncover the reasons why the professor designed this program and why she is investing so much – for the sake of her beloved. To restore him.
Netflix’s Deep (2021) ending
The professor asks Jane, “Do you know what it feels like to lose the one you love?” It’s clear that the professor is trying to make a point. Despite five people against one, Jane still ends up getting injected and nearly dies. Fortunately, they all survive and we get a montage of them being able to take a much-needed rest as there’s no reward for level three.
