The film not only delivered plenty of horror, but it also shed light on the social issue of female foeticide.
It’s really uncanny how ‘Chhorii’ released last year around the same date and we started shooting the sequel for the same today,” she said of the start of ‘Chhorri 2’. I can’t thank the universe enough for ‘Chhorii,’ a film that has given me so much.
“And of course, Vishal sir, my co-stars, and the crew on set, who always pushed me to go further.” We have received so much love for the film over the last year, which has kept us going and inspired us to level up and give the sequel our all.”
She continued, saying: “’Sakshi’ (her character in the film) was an extremely difficult and difficult character for me to crack. It was one of my most difficult characters to play because I was not only playing a pregnant woman in this world of horrors, but also someone who had to fight for her and her child’s survival while dealing with the social practise of female foeticide on screen, which is still prevalent in some parts of our country. It was a big responsibility, and I had to do it right.”
The film also taught her how to completely surrender to a character, according to the actress.

She remembered how the team shot in sugarcane farms in remote areas around Bhopal in December, and how after 26 days of nonstop shooting, she had forgotten who Nushrratt was.
On the work front, Nushratt has an interesting slate of films lined up, including ‘Selfiee,’ in which she will reunite with her ‘Ram Setu’ co-star Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi. She also has a solo lead film in the works, titled ‘Akelli,’ in the works.
