  1. Pongal

This is the most significant Harvest festival of Tamil Nadu. It is celebrated for 4 days simultaneously. Normally, it is celebrated from 13th Jan to 16th Jan.

This festival is celebrated to express gratitude to God Sun for offering energy towards agriculture.

 
  1. Thiruvaiyaru

It is a famous music festival devoted to renowned music composer, Saint Thyagaraja, who attained Samadhi on Pushya Bahula Panchami day so this festival is celebrated on this day every year. The festival is celebrated in Thanjavur, which promotes Carnatic and classical music.

 
  1. Tamil New Year's Day

This festival is celebrated in the middle of April. On this day, women are seen making designed patterns with rangolis on the foyers of the house. Shrine baths, delicious cuisines, sweet and sour dishes, mangoes, batteries are crucial on this day. The temple Kanni is visited in particular.

 
  1. Natyanjali Dance Festival 

This festival is completely the soul of Indian culture, Dance. This day is celebrated to offer tribute to Lord Nataraja (Lord Shiva), the most powerful and loved God in the Hindu religion. The traditional and classical dances such as Bharatnatyam,  Mohiniyattam, Kathak, Kuchipudi are observed on this day. The Nataraja temple at Chidambaram in Tamil Nadu is decorated and where one can observe numerous dances.

 
  1.  Mahamaham

In the small town of Tamil Nadu, Kumbakonam where this festival is celebrated every 12 years. People gather near a sacred tank and take a bath as in the Kumbh, as a sign of sin purifier. People around the world visit there to take bath in Mahamaham Tank.

 
  1. Vinayaka Chathurthi

Vinay aka Chathurthi is celebrated simultaneously for 10/days to worship the Lord of Beginning, Lord Ganesha in the month of Bhadrapada i.e. August-September. This festival is one of the reasons for an auspicious vacation in Tamil Nadu.

 
  1. Thaipusam

On the full moon day of Thai month, Thaipusam is celebrated. It is believed that the younger son of Lord Shiva, Lord Subramaniam was born on this day and taking vows infront of him would ensure that they keep their vows forever. Kavadi Bearer and Agni Kavadi is an important ritua observed on this day. Devotees barefooted with pots on their shoulders walk on the burning coal spread on the ground.
