In recent months, South films have done well in north India even while Bollywood films have flopped. RRR and Kannada release KGF: Chapter 2 beat all Hindi releases at the time. As a result, the argument between the South vs Bollywood arose. Salman Khan has now joined in on the ongoing debate.
Chiranjeevi’s long-awaited film, God Father is all set to enter theatres on October 5. The Telugu film, which is a re-creation of the Malayalam film Lucifer, will see Salman in a cameo appearance. Both stars recently spoke at a press conference in Mumbai as part of the film's promotion.
According to India Today, Salman Khan told Chiranjeevi, "Your films are accepted here, but our films aren't." "We are here to take you," says the south star. This is one of the reasons why I wanted Sallu Bhai to appear in this movie."
Dabangg Khan then discussed how the Bollywood and South cinema industries could benefit from talent cross-pollination. He explained that people want to go to Hollywood, but I want to go to the south film industry. The thing is once you start working together, think about the numbers we'll all have. That is the fundamental reason why people watch it here and in the South. You have all the theatres, fans, go see him. Even if they become my fans, we will become his. Everyone just keeps on growing, and the numbers get really big. We estimate 300-400 crores. If we all work together, we can cross 3000-4,000 crores.
God Father, directed by Mohan Raja, tells the tale of a mystery man who rises to fill the power vacuum left by the death of a political leader. Ram Charan, R. B. Choudary, and N. V. Prasad are the producers.
