Here Is Why Kota Factory Was Shot In Black & White

Kota Factory

Kota Factory is a beautiful creation by Saurabh Khanna and Arunabh Kumar. It is one of the most popular Indian web series about a group of IIT aspirants living in Kota, a town known for best IIT coaching institute in the country.

The series is a beautiful depiction of friendship and the bond between students and teachers. The series is throughout shot through a monochromatic color scheme, making it India’s first black and white web series.

Why Balck & White?

There is no specific reason for its monochromic color scheme. Originally it was filmed in color but during post-production, it was turned that way.

The dull color scheme was chosen to show and highlight the boring and dull nature of students in Kota. The dull phases of lives they go through, the fun they miss during their tender age away from any type of entertainment.

Another reason could be the title itself. The factories are usually black and white which can also be seen as a motif for the result-oriented approach of the institutes as their lives are defined by their selection or rejection into IIT.
