Bollywood Actress Mandana Protests Against Hijab In Mumbai

The anger filled among the people over the killing of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini by Iran’s morality police for wearing an ‘improper’ Hijab. The case has travelled around the world raging the people. The United Nation condemned upon the killing of Amini, the European Union has also called this horrible incident ‘unacceptable’. As both the organizations called the rightful authorities to punish those who are responsible. The criticism of the headscarf has not only provoked in Iran but it has also resonated around the world, and as a result 150 countries are  protesting for the choice of women. India also joined the list, with a lone protester in Mumbai.

Here are all the points that you need to know about the lone protestor 

1. Mandana Karimi was born and raised in Tehran, at Mumbai’s Bandstand she raised her voice about women’s rights in picture with movement undergoing in Iran. Mandana stood with a placard for hours, telling people about the situation in her country currently.

2. She also posted her protest in a 17-minute-long reel, on her profile on Instagram, she captioned- “For Iran, for my mother’s tears, for my brother’s broken face and heart, for sleepless nights, for freedom for life.”

3. While sharing her story with the publisher, she shared how she decided to organize this protest. She told that she was very disappointed by the responses of Bollywood celebrities which made her took tha decision of protesting alone, 'I have asked my PR team, and we are just two of us, what should we do?', and then she decided to go and protest alone. 

4. As the Bollywood stars remain mum, but the actors like Angelina Jolie and Nazanin Boniadi have condemned it. In a guest column for Deadline, Iran-born actress Nazanin Boniadi called the movement 'nothing short of the first female-led revolution of our time'. Also Jolie wrote on Instragram, 'To the women of Iran, we see you'.

5. Some of the World’s important bodies like the United Nations and the European Union has also shown sadness upon the killing of the 22-year-old. The acting UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Nada Al-Nashif expressed concern on the death in custody of Mahsa Amini.

6. The EU's foreign policy chief Josep Borrell called it crucial for the authorities to look at the fundamental rights of their citizens and should ensure that those have been respected.

7. Iranian diaspora communities and human right activists have launched many rallies in over 150 cities all around the world against the Islamic Republic.

8. In Iran, these protests has entered in their third week, as the Iranian women are shouting slogans in occasionally in rallies in opposition of a deadly repression by the security forces. 

9. As per Oslo-based Iran Human Rights group, there have been at least 133 people across Iran that has been killed by the authorities since the protests began. 

10. Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi called for national unity and accepted that Iran had it’s "shortcomings."
