The newest VD release, Liger, suffered the same fate, and ‘Boycott Liger Trend’ began trending on the internet before release of action drama on August 25th this year. In response, Vijay Deverakonda stated during a movie promotion event, “Kaun rokega dekh lenge” which means we’ll see who can stop us.
Following the statement, film executive Manoj Desai called the actor “arrogant.” VD afterwards travelled to Hyderabad and met with him in person to clear the air. Overwhelmed by the visit, the film executive posted an emotional video on social media, adding,”He is a truly nice, down-to-earth man, and I will always love him.” He has a bright future, and I promise to take all of his photos. I wish him the best of luck. When I met Vijay, I realised he considers the whole cast of his films. I’ve only apologised to two actors: Amitabh Bachchan and now Vijay Deverakonda.”
Vijay Deverakonda’s views of democracy
Vijay Deverakonda’s democratic beliefs are also unpopular. During an interview with the Film Companion ,h e raised numerous eyebrows with his opinions on the subject According to the Arjun Reddy actor, “I don’t think everyone should be able to vote ,his words garnered several controversies . However, he did not stop there; in the same discussion, he argued further, “It’s ludicrous that why we’re having money and cheap booze swing a vote. I’m not suggesting that rich people should vote. I don’t even believe rich people should be allowed to vote. I believe the middle class, individuals who are educated and will not be swayed by a small amount of money… I don’t think everyone should be able to vote since they don’t understand the process.
He went on to say that he would definitely like to be a dictator. he believe that’s the only way to go . That’s the method you can make a change. ‘Just shut up…I have good intentions’. You may not know what is good for you, but if you stick with it, it will pay off in 5-10 years. he believe that dictatorship has its place, but it needs to be led by a worthy man.
Engagement with the media
During another press conference for Liger, a journalist pointed out to Vijay Deverakonda that he was able to speak freely with the media during the launch of his 2018 supernatural comic thriller Taxiwala. In an attempt to make him feel more comfortable, t he journalist advised him to put his feet up. Following the same path, the actor placed his feet up and said “Let’s chat freely.” The event created rumors about his attitude issues.
