About Palki Sharma:
Renowned Indian reporter and anchorwoman Palki Sharma Upadhyay is well-known for her role as the main anchor at WION (World Is One News). WION is the first privately held international news station in India, intending to provide a more thorough and Indian-centric explanation of world events.
She was employed with WION till September 2022 as a managing editor. Even though she is no longer associated with the channel, she continues to significantly influence the business.
Palki Sharma has worked in the journalistic field for over twenty years. With a new series called "Vantage with Palki Sharma" on Firstpost's YouTube channel, which Network18 Group owns, she has been hired as managing editor at Firstpost.
Born in Pilani, Rajasthan, Palki Sharma Upadhyay holds a master's degree from the ICG Institute of Educational Research and Development in Jaipur, Rajasthan, in Journalism and communication.
Between 2004 and 2005, she was employed as a staff writer for Hindustan Times and as a newscaster for Doordarshan News from 2002 to 2005. She also had senior editing and anchoring positions at CNN-News18.
She subsequently began working as a managing editor for WION in March 2017 and remained there till 2022.
Her dreadful experience in the newsrooms and the hurdles she faced in the industry:
The supervisor warned her, "But you have to come back in shape quickly," when she broke the happy news that she was expecting her first child. This action is an illustration of how the industry values objectifying women, even when those women are pregnant.
She goes on to say that predators are common in newsrooms and that they frequently get away with doing nasty things. Their abusive conduct is also constantly ignored, and they continue to hold positions of authority.
Awards and achievements:
She won an award for Best News Reader in 2007. She was the 2020 WION Best International News Show winner. She also received a 2022 AIMA Managing India Award for her exceptional media effort.

Palki Sharma is currently employed as a managing editor at Firstpost, (a news portal under the ownership of Reliance Industries' Network18 Media Group) where she oversees the Network18 Group-owned television programme "Vantage."
