The immediate notion that comes to mind when referring to Sumedh Mudgalkar is the charming and graceful mannerism he displays when acting or dancing. Sumedh has continued growing as an artist in his pathway from being a child with hopes and ambitions in Pune to becoming one of India’s most popular television personalities. The qualities he possesses (passionate, disciplined, and supporting himself) are reflected in the success he has achieved throughout his career.

Sumedh Vasudev Mudgalkar was born on 2nd November 1996 in Pune, Maharashtra, to a loving and supportive Marathi family. He showed an early interest in dancing at a young age and has been very creative throughout his life. The most remarkable aspect of Sumedh’s journey is that he has never received any formal dance training; he learned by watching YouTube videos, practising hours upon hours until he developed his style of freestyle dancing. This approach to dance became his greatest asset and gave him the nickname “Beat King” in the early 2020s.
Sumedh graduated from Sinhgad Springdale Public School, Pune, and earned a degree in Economics from Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT), Pune. Although he earned a degree in Economics, the performing arts had always been a big part of his life. Participating in competitions while in school and festivals while in college allowed him to grow more confident in his abilities and pursue the world of entertainment.
Sumedh received his early fame from playing a role on dance reality shows initially starting with Dance Maharashtra Dance in 2012 then going on to Dance India Dance (Season 4) which aired in 2013 where he finished as the third runner up due to his unique freestyle dance performances and engaging stage presence that made him popular with viewers and opened doors for him to pursue acting.
The first major acting project that was given to him was Dil Dosti Dance; however, his rise to stardom began with the role of a young Sushim in Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat. But the turning point of his career came in 2018 when he took on the role of Lord Krishna in Star Bharat’s RadhaKrishn. His calm demeanour, soft body language, and emotional capability made him known to be one of the most admired actors by all age groups.
His film credits cover not just three different genres, but he has acted in both Marathi and Hindi films, such as Ventilator, Manjha, Bucket List and Man Yedyagat Zala. More recently, in 2022, he opted to showcase his acting skills through Escaype Live, where he played a much darker and more complicated character that displayed his versatility beyond just the mythological genre.
Although well known, Sumedh is very private about his life. He is not married in 2025 and has denied any speculation regarding romance in any form, including with co-star Mallika Singh. Sumedh is recognised for being easy-going and having a positive image in society.
Sumedh has seen a continued increase in his wealth and the millions around the globe who follow him via social media, plus the strong support he has received from his fan base known as “Sumedhians”, which all contribute to the ever-growing success of his career. Sumedh’s story is an example of determination, hard work, talent, and humility and is an excellent Illustration of how dreams can come true, and he still has many more to come.
