
Prabath Jayasuriya, also known as Neketh Gedara Roshan Prabath Jayasuriya, was born in Matale, Sri Lanka, on 5 November 1991, at which time, he was 33 years of age by 2025. Since, he was very young at that time (which he most probably didn’t even know at the time), I’ll say, under the age of 10, he already took an interest in cricket, and from there it grew on him and became a part of him, which praying a left arm orthodox spinner well known)(for)His accuracy and patience.

Family and Parents
He is from a very close family. His father, R. Oshan Jayasuriya, is a businessman, a man about whom we do not have many details about his mother. Also, he has a younger brother named Ashen. Education and Schooling
Prabath did his studies at Christ Church College in Matale and also at Lumbini College in Colombo. In school, he played cricket, which was a key element in his development as a player. Domestic Cricket Career
He began his professional cricket career in 2011 when he made his List A debut for Colombo Cricket Club. He made his first-class and T20 debuts in 2012. Also, over the years, he played for many domestic teams, which included Colombo Cricket Club, Colts Cricket Club, and Sinhalese Sports Club, and put on an appearance for the Jaffna franchise in the Lanka Premier League.
International Debut and Rise
Jayasuriya’s first foray into the international arena was in the One Day Internationals, which he made in 2018 against South Africa, but it was in Test cricket that he truly broke through. In July 2022, at Galle against Australia, he left the cricket world stunned by his performance on debut, a record 12 wickets, which also saw him take home the Player of the Match award.
Records and Achievements
Since that time, he has put himself forward as one of Sri spinners. He is the quickest Sri Lankan to achieve both 50 and 100 Test wickets, with several-wicket matches to his name and two ten-wicket performances under his belt. What he brings to the table in terms of long-term spell control and the turners’ wares has made him a man who turns the match around for the national team.
