Maheep Singh is an Indian stand-up comic, playwright, lyricist, and creative entrepreneur who is widely regarded as having an “honest, understated sense of humour.” Maheep Singh is best known for taking situations or events from his everyday life and making them into meaningful, humorous observations; people from all around Delhi and India honour him as “The Gujarati Sardar.” In his comedy work, Maheep Singh exhibits righteousness and decency, with very few punchlines, through his sharp observational humour, goodwill and warmth.

Born in 1975 in Patiala (Punjab, India), Singh grew up within the spectrum of great culture and family support that enabled him to have a rich, creative life. His family stimulated his creativity and helped him develop an interest in language and storytelling at a very early age. After graduating from school, he obtained his Master’s (M.A.) in English literature, which provided him with a strong foundation for developing very precise wordplay and humour through careful thought and consideration.
Before embarking on his comedy career, Singh had an extensive background in working with language and communication. From 1991-2010, he worked as a freelance translator; from 1999-2003, he served as a copy editor at Aptara, Inc.; these roles increased his expertise and ability to accurately deliver excitement, timing and structure in narrative form – characteristics that become evident as powerful performance skills developed later in his comedy career.
At the age of 40, Maheep Singh started to pursue a career in stand-up comedy. The art form served as an outlet for him to get through some difficult times and helped him deal with depression. Maheep performed for the first time in a paid capacity at Café Rati in Delhi. From that day forward, Maheep’s unique way of telling his story and his deadpan delivery made an instant impression on audiences.
Maheep has an incredibly successful comedic style that is both simple and effective. With short lines, real-life stories, real-world cultural references and an emotional honesty that you can relate to, you will understand why Maheep has gained national attention for his comedy. He was also the co-winner of the Comedy Central Best Stand-Up Comedian Award, along with Zakir Khan.
Maheep Singh is a performer who has significantly impacted the growth of comedy in India and is responsible for several festivals and promotions of comedy, including New Delhi Comedy Club (which he established), Jaspal Bhatti Humor Festival, Khushwant Singh Humor Festival, and I AM – Identity Art Marathon.
Maheep Singh is an artist who has achieved great success through performance, having appeared in many different forms of media, including web-based content (Baked 2015), film (Jaspal 2024) and YouTube content (India’s Got Latent 2024).
Maheep Singh is 50 years of age (as of 2025), father of one daughter, and has been married once, but chooses to keep that part of his life separate from his public persona. He is estimated to have a net worth of approximately $1 million (₹8 crores) due to his work as a stand-up comedian, his work as a curator at several comedy festivals, and his skills in writing and contributing to the media industry.
Maheep Sing’s journey demonstrates that creativity is ageless. He left behind a legacy of authentic laughter and strong self-belief, and inspires others to start anew.
