Kalpana Kartik was born on 19 September 1931 to Mona Singha in Shimla, India. As of 2026, she is 94 years old. She was born into a well-educated family and finished her studies and then entered the film industry.
Entry into Films
She started her career in the film industry after being spotted by actor and director Dev Anand. He was so much impressed by her personality that he came under the influence of her personality by introducing her to films under the title of Navketan, and that was the beginning of her acting career.

The first film Kalpana Kartik appeared in was Baazi (1951) which was a huge success. She also appeared in some of the popular movies like Taxi Driver (1954), House No.44 (1955), and Nau Do Gyarah (1957).
She frequently appeared with Dev Anand and their on-screen chemistry was greatly enjoyed. Although she had a successful career, she retired early from films after a few years in the film industry.
Marriage and Family
In 1954, Dev Anand got married to Kalpana Kartik when they were shooting Taxi Driver. The couple had a secret marriage at the beginning. They were blessed with a son, Suneil Anand, who became a film actor and businessman.
