All the engineering students are aware of the UPSC IES exam. By conducting the exams, candidates are selected for various posts. In this article, we will discuss the Indian Engineering Services exam and many other details. This exam is conducted by the Government of India and they select students from all engineering backgrounds. Selected students work under the government of India as Class-1 - 1 officers. This exam is conducted in three ways, i.e. Prelims, Mains, and the interview. IES stands for Indian Engineering Services.

Exam Pattern
As we have discussed earlier, the exam is conducted in three phases- Preliminary, Mains, and the Interview. The prelims and mains exams consist of two papers. paper 1 is of general studies and aptitude. The candidates can select the choice of their paper from their engineering branches for the main examination. The prelims exam contains a total of 500 marks and the mains exam contains 300 marks for each paper and their total is 600 marks. For the prelims exam, the candidate gets 2 hours and 3 hours respectively for both papers. For the main examination, the time duration is 3 hours. Candidates who qualify in both phases will get selected for the Interview round which consists of 200 marks. The total of all three stages of this exam is 300, and the candidates who qualify for all three stages will get selected for Indian Engineering Services.

Syllabus
The paper 1 consists of the General Studies and Engineering Aptitude. Concerning the engineering branch, paper 2 contains subjects like Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic and Chemical Engineering, and many more. The main exam consists of 2 papers and candidates can select the paper of choice from their engineering background. 

Salary
According to the 7th Pay Scale, the salary package of an  IES Officer is made, and this usually motivates students a lot to prepare for the exam.it is further divided into three classes, and officers get it according to the city in which they got posting.
