Vikas Khanna held positions with the Welcome Group, the Oberoi Group, the Taj Hotels, and the Leela Group of Hotels when he was in India. Prior to working at the posh Indian restaurant Junoon in the Flatiron District of Manhattan, Vikas Khanna held positions at the Rubin Museum of Art's The Café and Salaam Bombay in New York.

In its first year of operation, Sam Sifton of The New York Times gave Junoon favourable reviews. Since 2011, the restaurant has been recognised with a star by the Michelin Guide for six years running.

Biography

Vikas Khanna was born on November 14, 1971. Davinda and Bindu Khanna welcomed their son Vikas into the world at Amritsar, India. He went to Amritsar's St. Francis School. His clubfoot, a congenital limb abnormality, kept him from walking until he was thirteen years old. His grandmother Viji, who loved to cook, served as an inspiration to him, and her cuisine was incorporated into his foundational education.

At an early age, Vikas Khanna began creating recipes. At the age of 17, he launched Lawrence Gardens Banquet, a venue for family get-togethers and weddings. He received his diploma in 1991 from the Welcomgroup Hotel Management Graduate School, which is a division of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education.

In addition, GD Goenka University granted Vikas Khanna an honorary degree in appreciation of his exceptional accomplishments in the culinary arts related to generosity, compassion, and altruism, as well as his influence as a chef around the world. In addition, he attended New York University and the Culinary Institute of America.

Vikas Khanna worked at the Taj Hotels, Oberoi Group, Welcomgroup, and Leela Group of Hotels when he was in India. Additionally, he has collaborated with renowned chefs such Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Bobby Flay, Eric Ripert, and Gordon Ramsay. He launched Kinara, a restaurant, in Dubai in 2019. He launched Ellora, a restaurant, in Dubai in 2020.

The documentary series "Holy Kitchens," created by Vikas Khanna, delves at the connection between religion and cuisine. The series has screened at film festivals and universities including Oxford, Columbia, Princeton, and Harvard. His documentary "Kitchens of Gratitude" was shown at the Marché du Film, the 69th Cannes Film Festival.

Vikas Khanna is single and does not have a spouse, girlfriend, or other significant other. Rumour has it that he was romantically involved with Shipra Khanna, the winner of MasterChef India, but he refuted the rumours, saying he was single. He is still single and not married.
