Karnati Varun Reddy is an inspiring and dedicated officer who demonstrated immense perseverance and determination. Despite facing failures three times, he never lost hope. Hailing from Miryalaguda in Nalgonda district, Telangana, Varun Reddy fulfilled his father's dream of seeing him become an IAS officer by securing the seventh position in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exams nationwide.


Currently, Varun is serving as an Associate Commissioner with the Income Tax Department and is undergoing training for the Indian Revenue Services (IRS) in Nagpur.


Initially, Varun had plans to pursue an MBA from one of the top IIMs. However, after achieving the 29th rank in JEE and securing a seat at IIT Bombay, he decided to pursue Computer Science.


Coming from a respected family, Karnati Varun Reddy has a supportive background. His father, Dr. Janardhan Reddy, is an Ophthalmologist, while his mother, P. Nagamani, holds the position of additional director in the Agriculture Department. Varun's brother is a surgeon at Kakatiya Medical College in Warangal.


Dr. Janardhan Reddy shared the struggles Varun faced during his journey, mentioning that Varun initially failed in his first attempt at the UPSC exam. In his second attempt, he secured the 166th rank, followed by the 225th position in his third attempt. However, Varun remained determined and appeared for the exam once again, ultimately achieving the seventh rank in the nation.


Varun Reddy's optional subject in the UPSC exam was Mathematics, in which he scored 178 and 146 in papers I and II, respectively.


Regarding his preparation strategy, Varun emphasizes the importance of understanding the exam's concept and nature. He advises going through the entire syllabus and commencing preparation for the UPSC CSE exam.


For the Prelims exam, Varun suggests practicing mock tests and MCQ papers regularly. When it comes to the mains exam, he emphasizes limited resources, daily revision, and practicing previous years' papers to familiarize oneself with the exam pattern. Varun also highlights the significance of taking regular breaks to maintain focus and concentration.


Varun believes that consistent practice and hard work are key to achieving one's goals, asserting that aspirants who adhere to regular practice and work diligently will inevitably succeed.
