Height, Weight, Wives, Family & Other Details

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, also known as Shivaji Bhosale, was a legendary warrior king and founder of the Maratha Empire in India. He was born on the 19th of February, 1630, in the fortress of Shivneri, near Pune in Maharashtra, India.

There are no reliable records of Shivaji's height or weight, but he is generally believed to have been of average height and build, with a muscular physique due to his martial training.

Shivaji had two wives - Saibai and Soyarabai. Saibai was his childhood sweetheart, and they had two sons, Sambhaji and Rajaram. Soyarabai was a noblewoman who became his wife after the death of Saibai. They had one son, named Shahu.

Shivaji's family played a significant role in his life and career. His father, Shahaji Bhosale, was a prominent general in the service of the Adil Shahi Sultanate of Bijapur, while his mother, Jijabai, was a devout Hindu who instilled in him a strong sense of pride and identity. His son, Sambhaji, succeeded him as the ruler of the Maratha Empire after his death.

Shivaji's military campaigns were the stuff of legend. He was a master strategist and tactician, and his guerrilla tactics, including hit-and-run raids and ambushes, proved highly effective against the larger and better-equipped armies of the Mughal Empire.

Shivaji was also a patron of the arts and culture, and he encouraged the improvement of Marathi literature, music, and dance. He was a devout Hindu, and he founded the Maratha navy, which played a crucial role in protecting the Indian coastlines from foreign invaders.

Shivaji died on April 3, 1680, at the age of 50, due to an illness. His legacy, however, continues to inspire Indians and people around the world, and he is remembered as a courageous and visionary leader who fought for the rights of his people and therefore laid the foundation for the Maratha Empire.
