‘Drishyam 2’  Pays Rs 3.5 crore To Save Itself

Producer Kumar Mangat pays Rs 3.5 crore to Manish Shah to save Ajay Devgn's ‘Drishyam 2’.

Drishyam 2’ trailer has managed to get an good response from the audience. Of course now we have to see whether the film pans out as well as its first part did. But something happened a couple of days back that really frightened the makers of ‘Drishyam 2’.

The owner of Goldmines Telefilms, Manish Shah, who also has a YouTube channel, almost spoiled the upcoming film ‘Drishyam 2’; and he also did a similar thing with Kartik Aaryan’s film ‘Shehzada’ and some few other films in the past. A source says, “This is the fourth time. This is nothing but white-collar piracy.”

Okay, so what exactly happened? Manish took the Hindi dubbing rights of the film from its Telugu makers who are D Suresh Babu, Antony Perumbavaor, and Rajkumar Sethupathi as they controlled the Telugu version of ‘Drishyam 2’ (titled ‘Drushyam 2’) starring Venkatesh. Manish was about to put up the Hindi dubbed version of ‘Drushyam 2’ on his YouTube channel on October 22 which is about a month before the release of Drishyam 2.

Ajay Devgn, Kumar Mangat and Co. had no other option but to ask him to not do it, but wouldn’t Manish listen.

And Mangat had bought the Hindi dubbing rights of ‘Drishyam 2’ from its Malayalam makers that starred Mohanlal in the lead but he didn’t knew that Manish would then knock the doors of the Telugu version.

Mangat who is the producer of ‘Drishyam 2’ went to Manish and ask him how much he wants? And Manish demanded Rs 3.5 crore excluding GST (18 per cent). Mangat give the money and came back. Manish also agreed that he won’t put out the Hindi version of the Telugu ‘Drushyam 2’.

Later Manish Shah agreed that he had taken the money from Kumar Mangat for the settlement. When he was told this is the fourth time that he has done this, he said that it was just a simple business decision.

However Kumar Mangat chose to remain silent on this.

‘Drishyam 2’ starring Ajay and Tabu in lead roles and directed by Kumar Mangat’s son Abhishek Pathak is ready to get release on November 18 this year.
