  1. Nna Than Case Kodu

The simple yet unique storyline of Nna Than Case Kodu has already created a buzz. This film, directed by Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval, is about a reformed thief who fights in court to prove his innocence. The film tackles serious justice issues in a lighthearted manner.

  1. Parava

The acclaimed actor Soubin Shahir made his directorial debut with the film, which follows the journey of two teenage boys from Mattanchery (a locality in Kochi) who share an undying passion for the local game of pigeon flying. Irshad eventually opens up about a terrible incident that ruined many friendships in the neighbourhood, which forms the rest of the plot.

  1. Oru Indian Pranayakadh

Satyan Anthikkad's Oru Indian Pranayakadha tells the story of Ayamanam Sidharthan, a political aspirant. After meeting Irene, his life begins to change. Irene is in search of her past, and their time together lights up the good in Ayamanam Sidharthan. Fahadh Faasil deviated from his usual style with this film, proving that he can handle comedy with ease. This film had a significant impact on the family audience's perception of Fahadh.

  1. Pathemari

Salim Ahamed's Pathemari narrates the travails of a Gulf Malayali and their never-ending miseries. Mammootty plays Narayanan, a man burdened by his family's responsibilities who travels to the Gulf in a Pathemaari (sloop) some decades ago. Mammootty carries the story forward with honesty and elegance, and it is enjoyable to watch Mammootty's performance.

  1. Ennu Ninte Moideen

Ennu Ninte Moideen is a love story between Moideen and Kanchanamala based on a true story from the 1960s. Despite being from different casts, both of their families were close. Their love grows through letters, and they had a distinct style of writing to each other. Both families are opposed to their love, and they have had to wait a long time to start a life together. This film depicted one of the most popular romantic stories in recent years.

  1. Ohm Shanthi Oshana
Ohm Shanthi Oshana is a romantic film that is unique in that it tells the story from the perspective of a girl, and it is a 'girl meets boy’ storyline. Pooja Mathew (Nazriya Nazim) has had a crush on Giri (Nivin Pauly) since she is a teenager. Giri is a well-involved socialite and a well-known face in the neighborhood, who previously had a bad love experience. Pooja tries to impress Giri by doing crazy things throughout her life, and it takes years to win Giri's heart. Nazriya handled the character well, and it's fun to watch a romantic film from a different perspective.

  2. North 24 Kaatham

North 24 Kaatham depicts the journey of three people who happened to meet on a hartal day. Harikrishnan, a software engineer with obsessive-compulsive personality disorder (OCPD), is sent to Trivandrum for a meeting, and along the way, he meets Narayani and Gopalan. Gopalan deboards en route to Trivandrum due to an emergency, and the remaining two passengers continue their journey. Fahadh Faasill has flawlessly portrayed an OCPD sufferer with strange mannerisms. This is one of Fahadh Faasill's underappreciated films in his illustrious career.

  1. June

Ahammed Khabeer's film is about a girl's coming-of-age, and her adolescent romance with Noel was the most prominent in the film, as it transitioned from her school life to her professional career. Anand was a genuine guy who was following June almost every time, and that tale was told through a song in the second half of the movie. Overall, June is a feel-good film with some old-fashioned ideas that work as a romantic drama.

  1. Charlie

Charlie is a romantic drama that revolves around Tessa, an artist who goes in search of the writer of an abandoned comic. Every character in the film has a distinct style statement, which makes the film memorable among young people. A few other characters appear along the way and contribute to Charlie's character development by narrating their personal encounters with him. Moving on to the performances, my favourite supporting characters are Aparna Gopinath and Soubin Shahir, but Parvathy and Dulquer were outstanding. Furthermore, the film highlights the benefits of being a traveller/hippie, and each scene is given equal weight.

  1. Annayum Rasoolum

Annayum Rasoolum depicts the romance between a taxi driver, Rasool, and a salesgirl, Anna, against the natural and raw backdrops of Kochi. Both characters represent the lower middle class, and it is the innocence of the character that distinguishes the film. The plot revolves around day-to-day events, and they eventually had to deal with religious and social qualms. Annayum Rasoolum, one of the Best Malayalam Movies on Hotstar, carries the love story intensely and realistically with more expressions and fewer dialogues.
