Top 10 Indian Superhero Movies Till 2022

Hollywood has literally monopolised the superhero genre as well as global film in general. However, the Indian film industry has managed to hold its place and hasn't yet allowed Hollywood to take over Indian movie theatres.

The Top 10 Indian Superhero Movies Up Until 2022 are listed here.

Krrish (2006)

Krrish, the immediate sequel to Koi Mil Gaya was one of the movies that truly launched the entire superhero movement in India.  Rakesh and Hritik Roshan, a father-son team, have not yet produced a box office dud.

In Krrish, our Krishna, or Krrish, battles a villainous scientist who seeks to create a time machine. Both young people and children found the movie to be appealing. It continues to be one of the very few classic Indian superhero movies to find popularity.

Ra.One (2011)

The film included some crazy-cool action sequences and a fantastic performance by SRK. It told the tale of a programmer named Shekhar who creates a VR video game, the villain from which enters the real world to capture the hero, a Shekhar-like superhero known G.One. But it was insufficient.

Minnal Murali

Minnal Murali is an exciting new movie that follows the story of Jaison, a young tailor from a rural village. All of his life he's been searching for something more and one fateful day, Jaison gets his wish in the form of a lightning strike. After being hit by the lightning, Jaison is granted superpowers which he must use to save his village from an unexpected adversary who has nefarious intentions.

Jaison must use all of his newfound abilities to become the hero the village needs, and the audience watches in awe as he rises to the challenge. In the end, Jaison's courage and determination are rewarded, and his village is saved. With its unique story and creative tone, Minnal Murali is an inspiring tale of hope and heroism that is sure to capture the hearts of viewers everywhere.

Mr. India (1987)

The only Indian movie to date that has endured is this one. Despite being released more than 30 years ago, the movie still has a high rewatchability rating, in part because to the late Shri Amrish Puri ji, the iconic villain. The movie centres on Arun, a good-hearted character who discovers a device that may render him invisible.

He battles Mogambo, a cunning plotter who is hell-bent on destroying the nation, using the superpower. The movie was one of the biggest blockbusters of the year and for all the right reasons, with catchy music and a decent amount of humour. Mr. India is included in our list of the Top Invisibility Films.

Bhavesh Joshi Superhero (2018)

This was a movie that deserved a lot more acclaim from the crowd than it really received. It was one of the best superhero movies the Indian people had ever seen, with some political implications and a gloomy storyline.

However, poor promotion and the lack of a major star caused this masterpiece to disappear into obscurity. The movie, which follows Sikander as he transforms into a superhero to honour the memory of his deceased comrade, was a complete joy to watch in terms of photography, music, acting, and screenplay. A success!

Toofan (1989)

It won't be overstating things if we claim that this was the first superhero movie made in India. The movie, which starred Amitabh Bachchan as a nice person who teams up with his criminal brother to exact revenge on Shaitan Singh for killing their father, was a hit when it was first released.

It was, however, unable to withstand the test of time and is regarded as one of Amitabh's worst flops. However, let's give director Ketan Desai credit for at least deviating from the norm and attempting something fresh.

Mugamoodi (2012)

Tamil superhero movie Mugamoodi became well-known thanks to filmmaker Mysskin, who is renowned for making the most stunning thriller movies. The movie did not let me down.

The movie explored some very true problems by telling the tale of an unhappy martial artist named Bruce who is unable to earn a living from his craft. He gains the enmity of the gang boss dubbed Dragon by aiding the authorities in taking down a gang. The movie was a smash and included some of the most incredible stunts ever seen in an Indian movie.

Robot and 2.0 (2011 and 2018)

Every movie starring our very own Thalaivar portrays him as a superhero, therefore it was assumed that he would work with the genre. He plays two roles in Robot: the scientist who created Chitti the Robot, the titular superhero, and the superhero himself.

The movie included some mind-blowingly spectacular action scenes that helped it become one of the most successful Indian movies of all time. The movie also gave rise to a sequel that took the lavish action and box office earnings even farther.

Kanthaswamy (2009)

In the guise of a superhero movie, Kanthaswamy is a fantasy thriller that explores the idea of corruption that pervades Indian culture. The main character, Mallana, is a CBI officer.

He has the ability to grant anyone's desires, and he only uses it on the poor and the needy. But while doing so, he must also look after the country. So he destroys a business partner who had stashed away large sums of illicit funds.

Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota (2019)

The movie follows a little child who suffers from a syndrome that prevents him from experiencing any pain. He decides to save his boyhood hero and his girlfriend in order to accomplish something useful with his life. It was a crazy movie that merits several viewings.
