At a court in Bihar's Begusarai district an arrest warrant was issued against producer-director Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor for their web series 'XXX'. The series aired on over-the-top platform (OTT) ALTBalaji that is owned by Ekta Kapoor's and Shobha Kapoor TV company Balaji Telefilms. In each episode they have featured a different story showing different sides of sexual relationships It is an erotic comedy-drama. The first season released in 2018, and the second season premiered in January 2020.

The arrest warrants were called against the mother-daughter duo. They charges of insulting soldiers and they also complained that they are hurting the sentiments of their family members in the web series.

Judge Vikas Kumar issued the warrants on the basis of a complaint lodged by Shambhu Kumar.

Shambhu Kumar, an ex-serviceman and is a resident of Begusarai, in his complaint in 2020, he said that the web series had several objectionable scenes related to soldier’s life.

Kumar's advocate Hrishikesh Pathak said summons had been issued against the company and the court asked Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor’s to appear before the court due to their connection with the web series.

“They have informed the court that certain objectionable scenes were removed after the warrant. They did not appear before the court after the warrant was issued against them,” Pathak said.
