Following his mention in the Pornography case, Raj Kundra quickly became the centre of attention. Shilpa Shetty's husband, Poonam Pandey, and Sherlyn Chopra were recently named in a FIR for allegedly disseminating pornographic videos. But today, a Supreme Court justices' panel granted anticipatory bail to all three. After the Bombay High Court rejected Raj Kundra's request for pre-arrest protection in the case, the Supreme Court made its decision a few weeks later.
Priority bail was granted by the Supreme Court.
The Maharashtra Cyber Police allegedly filed a charge sheet accusing Raj Kundra, Poonam Paandey, and Sherlyn Chopra of producing pornographic content and disseminating it via the streaming service. The news portal also claimed that Raj, Sherlyn, and Poonam were all charged with creating adult content at a five-star hotel.
Raj Kundra was detained last year on suspicion of producing and disseminating pornographic material. After being detained for two months, the businessman received bail.
Case filed against Raj Kundra in 2019
Raj Kundra, Director of Armsprime Media Ltd., was accused by the Cyber Police of creating and disseminating pornographic videos on specific websites earlier in 2019. Raj Kundra was also detained by the Mumbai Police late on July 19, 2021, along with 10 other people on suspicion of making pornographic movies, which shocked the entire nation. He was charged with violating pertinent provisions of the Information Technology Act, the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, and the Indian Penal Code. He was later placed in judicial custody until July 23, 2021.
Raj left Mumbai's Arthur Road Jail Road jail in September after receiving bail in a pornography case from a magistrate court and posting a 50,000 rupee bond.
