Best Home Remedies Get Rid Of Acne Scars

Acne breakouts can be frustrating, but sometimes it's even more challenging to deal with the long-term scarring they leave on your face. According to many experts, it's easier to treat the acne than the stubborn scars that follow. According to Paula Begoun, founder of Paula's Choice, "How you remove an acne scar entirely depends on the type of scar you are faced with." While discolorative scarring would easily resolve with proper care and fade away, deeper scarring would require more aggressive treatments.

Here are six of the most natural remedies with doctors' thumbs-up that can help you fight against those acne scars:

1. Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is a favorite for curing acne as well as post-acne scars because of its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. "It helps to calm the skin and prevent inflammatory breakouts," says Dr. Simal Soin of Aayna Clinic. Aloe vera also works as an excellent moisturizer that offers healthy and glowing skin.

How to apply Aloe Vera:

  • Rub fresh Aloe Vera gel on the scar in circular motions for about 10 minutes.
  • Leave it on for 30 minutes and wash off with cold water.
  • Repeat this twice a day for optimal results.

2. Green Tea

Green tea is rich in antioxidants that increase the healing process by breaking down chemicals which damage healthy skin cells. It also cleans pores, reducing the possibility of having breakouts.

How to use green tea:

  • Make a green tea bag and steep in hot water for 3 minutes. Then put it cool.
  • Mix a little honey with tea leaves and apply it on the face for 20 minutes, and then rinse off with cold water and pat dry.

3. Vitamin E Oil

Vitamin E oil is said to be a good moisturiser, which enables it to smoothen skin, lighten up hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, and even out scars. As per Cosmetic Dermatologist Dr. Rinky Kapoor, vitamin E oil can directly be applied to the scar.

How to use it:

  • Massage the Vitamin E oil on the scar for 10 minutes.
  • After 20 minutes, cleanse your face with lukewarm water.
  • Do this three times a day for visible improvement.

4. Coconut Oil

Other common remedy is coconut oil because it contains antibacterial and antifungal agents. Besides, it consists of vitamins E and lauric acid, which restore balance to the skin and accelerate healing.

Procedure:

  • Mix little amounts of coconut oil.
  • Apply this to your scars for 5-10 minutes and allow it to remain overnight or for some hours then wash with warm water.
  • Use daily for the most desired effects.

5. Potato

Potatoes have starch which is believed to erase scars and even blemishes. According to Dr. Kapoor you can rub potato slices or juice on your skin to fade away the existence of scars.

Preparation:

  • Use gentle potato slices on the affected parts of your body.
  • If you want, you can apply potato juice on the skin, and let it dry before you will remove it.
  • You can also use lemon juice in the same way but this will make your skin pale.

6. Onion Juice

Onion juice is also rich in bioflavonoids, which have been proved to show results of treating acne scars within a couple of weeks. We can use onion juice to treat the acne per se.

How to use:

  • Apply onion juice on scar and massage gently.
  • Let it dry up and wash off.

According to Paula Begoun, it is important never to pick or scratch acne for fear of making its scarring worse. When healing your skin from such damage, be sure to protect it from the sun's destructive rays with sunscreen of a power of SPF 30 or more.

Starting with the natural remedies and protection from the sun, removing scars from acne will be possible as well as achieving smoother healthier skin.
