Top 10 Independent Ceramic Brands In India In 2021

review

Purchasing your own set of mugs, plates, vases, and planters has become a modern-day rite of passage that signifies your entry into adulthood. Multiple ceramics and pottery studios have sprung up across the country as a result of the growing popularity of pottery and ceramics, as well as an increasing number of people desiring to unplug from the digital world and turn to crafts to unwind. Others are smaller home-based studios producing delicate plates, bowls, and other items that capture our attention. Some are trained professionals and stalwarts in their field, while others are smaller home-based studios crafting exquisite plates, bowls, and other items that strike our fancy.

There's no doubting that there's a newfound appreciation for all things clay, whether it's for decor or as a backdrop accessory for Instagram images. To add to your shopping carts, we've selected some of our favourite ceramics from independent pottery workshops.

White Hill Studio

White Hill Studio's magnificent sculptures are inspired by Himalayan natural imagery and folklore, and its Paaro collection is a tribute to Jim Corbett National Park's tigress Paarwali.

Her life, crazy escapades, and cold river dips are chronicled in the pieces. This respect is captured in beautiful paintings on tumblers and plates, making them great gifts for wildlife enthusiasts.

Rs.2,450 for a gift set with one platter and two tumblers

Clay Botik

You might wonder, "Who needs a ceramic oil bottle?" at first. But believe us when we say that once you start using one, you'll wonder why you didn't have one before.

This gorgeous handcrafted blue and white bottle from Clay Botik, a pottery and ceramics studio, is a traditional item that may be used to hold cooking oil as well as salad dressings and vinaigrettes, as the studio proposes.

Add it to your dining table, and you'll almost feel like you're dining in a Greek taverna with its blue and white tones. (Give us a break, we haven't been out in six months.)

Minimal Indian

This studio maintains loyal to their name as an ode to simpler times and the less is more aesthetic. Their bowls, plates, and cups are all handcrafted and hand-painted, and they are pure simplicity at its best.

Morning Tea Time is one of our favourites from their Morning Mist line, which features delicately painted bougainvillaea and bela flower patterns.

Lacuna: Pottery Studio

Tanushree Singh created a ceramic workshop in Goa where she crafts meticulously handcrafted contemporary and nature-inspired items.

The coffee tumblers are one of our favourites because they're both attractive and functional. Consider all the times you've prepared coffee half-asleep and spilled it over yourself because you nodded off in the middle of a cup.

No? Is it just us? So, there you have it.

Because this is a one-woman show, all of the items are restricted and manufactured in tiny numbers.

Slow Pottery

Talk about stylish mugs...er, jugs. According to this Bengaluru-based pottery workshop, breasts are the best (muses).

We appreciate their artistic homage to the female form in their Boob Basics series, as well as the fact that they organise 'online clay jams.' You can purchase a pottery kit and participate in an online session, or you can play Unchained Melody and recreate the Ghost pottery wheel on your own.

While the breast cups are sold out, the vase is still available for Rs.1,800.

Andretta Pottery

Without mentioning Andretta, no discussion of ceramics and pottery would be complete.

The Andretta Pottery Studio and Craft Society is located in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, in the heart of this artist colony. It's one of the country's oldest ceramic studios, with a constantly changing inventory of brilliantly decorated plates, mugs, trays, and other tableware.

It's difficult to choose a favourite, therefore we recommend browsing their collection and contacting them for your own piece of Indian art history.

Trayah Pottery

Trayah Pottery not only makes its own pieces, but also teaches others how to make them. The Freckle collection is for individuals who prefer their tableware to be simple, fresh, and uncluttered.

We like these snack bowls since we're professional snackers, but no dish is big enough to satisfy our chevda cravings.

You may get yours for Rs.780 if you order them online.

Amalfiee Ceramics

Amalfiee's pieces are vibrant, rich, and earthy, and they convey poetry in motion.

What a wonderful set of shell-shaped dishes! Every dinner guest will be envious of these stunning creations.

They are available in a variety of sizes ranging from 7 to 14 inches, with prices ranging from Rs.899 to Rs.2,000.

Because their website is still under construction, you'll have to contact them via Instagram to place your order.

Atelier Lālmitti

We desire almost all of Atelier Llmitti's blue and white creations, which are created in the heart of the Indian Himalayas. The teapots, butter dish, jugs, and cups, among other things.

If we had to choose, we'd go for the Botanica breakfast bowls to get the day started right.

Studio Nendo

The brand, which takes its name from the Japanese word 'Nendo,' which refers to clay sculpting, offers a variety of lovely pieces in its collection.

Vases and serving plates, as well as their distinctive fluted bowls in bright colours, will complement your collection nicely.

We were intrigued to the Candy Melt series, which features off-white with a melty multicolor flow around the edges, like kids in a candy store.

A set of Candy Melt mugs is still available for Rs.1,054.
