IAS Swati Sharma Age, Biography

 

Swati Sharma, a 25-year-old engineering graduate from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, emerged victorious in her third attempt at the UPSC CSE 2022, securing an impressive AIR-15. Hailing from a modest middle-class family, Swati's parents, a transportation worker father and a homemaker mother, had dreams for her that surpassed the expectations of their world.


Swati's journey towards the civil services was motivated by her father's longstanding desire to see her as an IAS officer. Initially contemplating a career in the corporate sector, Swati soon realized that a civil service role would provide her with a platform to address societal concerns and contribute meaningfully to its betterment, particularly in areas such as women's safety.


The UPSC CSE 2022 marked Swati's third attempt, with the first in 2020 and the second in 2021. While the initial attempt stumbled at the Prelims stage, the second brought her to the interview round. Despite falling short of selection, Swati demonstrated resilience by preparing anew, identifying and rectifying past mistakes. Opting for Sociology as her optional subject, she strategically focused on presentation, incorporating facts and numbers while adopting concise formats like bullet points and flow charts for clarity.


During her interview, Swati faced questions about the influence of OTT platforms on women's societal standing. Though she initially grappled with formulating a response, she eventually navigated it impressively, leaving a positive impression on the board members.


Swati's unwavering support system consists of her parents, whom she considers her pillars of strength. Describing her achievement not as an individual dream but a collective one with her family, Swati envisions leveraging her IAS position to contribute significantly to her country. Her goals extend to improving women's status by empowering them financially and instilling self-sufficiency. Additionally, she aspires to enhance women's safety, ensuring a world where no woman fears venturing out. Swati is also committed to championing education for all and actively participating in the social development of her nation.
